Wretched, twisted parodies of once-living beings, Cacozombies are the thralls of clusters of Unclean Spirits who possess and reanimate these rotting forms in order to spread pain, suffering, and death among the living. Hateful things, cacozombies are surrounded by auras of Psychic Filth that cause all wounds that they inflict upon the living to fester and go septic within 1d6 hours if not purified by salt, fire and/or clerical spells.

Those killed by Cacozombies rise in 1d4 days as one themselves. Those lost to this horrific fate are unrecoverable, and their souls can only be recovered through exceptional or extreme measures.

There are rumors in the journals of various reputable and accomplished karcists and the like that speak of there being more powerful, more conscious types of these undead things, but they are loathe to discuss such matters with lay-folk or the un-initiated.

It is a well known fact among the Sewer Militia that whenever you run into Cacozombies, there are almost certainly Legionaire Ungeziefer near by...

  1. I wonder...might unscruplous individuals try to hold cacozombies for study. Surely there are dire weapons that might be cultured from their psychic uncleanness? Just a thought.

    Good stuff!

  2. At first glance these guys don't seem to be much more than slightly hopped-up crackhead zombies...aside from them all talking in twenty-seven different voices all at once. But these aren't the usual zombies. That Psychic Uncleanness is wicked, nasty and lingering stuff. It leaves psychic landmines lying around, as it were. In fact one of the local land-mine manufacturers employs a herd of these creatures in their cellar assemblaries. They have a process that they use to extract the psychic filth from these things and compress it into volatile containers that serve as anti-personnel weapons that are especially well-suited to harming mediums and psychics.

Another wonderful bit of folklore from the Sewer Militia revolves around how some Cacozombies, if left alone long enough, seem to settle down into some sort of almost-integrated persona...perhaps they could form new identities that never existed prior to their undeath, but this hasn't been tested-out yet.

Most Cacozombies are far more likely to rave, rant and run around dismembering victims in a berserk rage...until they catch a whiff of Achromic Powder. then things get really nasty. That stuff allows a Cacozombie to add-on a few bonus HD and start using Protoplasmic Reversion and other fun stuff...
