1137 (Art Every Day Month Challenge 2012)

This is our Ninth piece for the Art Every Day Month Challenge hosted by Leah Piken Kolidas, the instigator behind the Creative Every Day Challenge.

This time I set out to design a book cover image for the recent Swan River Press Sampler Competition.

I was experimenting with some new textures and photos when this image just showed up from out of nowhere.

It reminds me of a windy hill-top. A lonely copse of twisted old trees out in the middle of nowhere. Bad weather coming in. Things best left forgotten and buried stirred up and agitated...

Maybe it works for the folks at Swan River Press, maybe it doesn't, but it feels evocative and weird and desolate to me, so maybe I'll write something about it if it doesn't make the cut. It just feels like there's a story in there. Somewhere.

Well, wish me luck!
